REAL HOSPITALITY PROJECT

A New Generation Of Zanzibar Luxury

Coconut Villas in Matemwe is one of those properties that immediately stands out. Thoughtfully designed, beautifully finished and filled with natural light, it represents a new generation of luxury hospitality emerging in Zanzibar. Spacious interiors, clean architectural lines and carefully considered details made it a pleasure to photograph. I was commissioned to photograph the property before opening, a stage where every image plays an important role in introducing the project to future guests. The assignment focused on showcasing the villas, apartments, outdoor spaces and the atmosphere of the property while highlighting the quality of the design and craftsmanship. Projects like Coconut Villas are exciting because they reflect the evolution of Zanzibar itself: a destination becoming increasingly refined while still maintaining its unique character, warmth and connection to the island's natural beauty.

Knowing The Island

Luxury hospitality photography is very much my bread and butter. Beyond cameras and composition, it is about understanding the rhythms of Zanzibar itself. Knowing when the tide reveals the beach at its best, when the ocean turns its brightest shades of blue, and how the light moves through a property throughout the day. Those details make the difference between simply documenting a hotel and truly showcasing it. Years spent living and working on the island have given me that knowledge, and it remains one of my biggest advantages when creating imagery for luxury properties in Zanzibar.
